New construction of a research hall with laboratories, machine hall and office building
The Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy e.V. (ATB), headquartered in Potsdam, is planning a pioneering ‘Leibniz Innovation Farm for Sustainable Bioeconomy’ (InnoHof) in Groß Kreutz for innovative and interdisciplinary research in the field of bioeconomy and circular economy as well as for public relations work in the immediate vicinity of an existing independent agricultural business (Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt für Tierzucht und Tierhaltung e.V. - LVAT). A machine hall and a research hall with a fibre technology centre will be built, with a hall on two levels containing laboratories and office space as well as places for knowledge transfer. An open area for the later construction of a research biogas plant and biorefinery components with storage boxes is being prepared and has been landscaped for the time being.
The InnoHof comprises two contemporary, sustainable new buildings for innovative research and public relations work, consisting of a research hall with laboratories, office and seminar area, machine hall and surrounding bypasses and outdoor areas. The realisation takes into account the status quo of typical agricultural architecture in the region in combination with the requirements of research activities with international appeal, taking into account the work processes of interdisciplinary working groups in the InnoHof model farm. The architectural concept for the new research infrastructure follows the principle of simple construction, based on the typical regional farm structure. Two building volumes are planned, which are arranged at right angles to each other. The larger volume is the administration building with the adjoining fibre technology centre facing north-south, while the second volume is the machine hall facing east-west.
