Building site C1-6 is of particular importance due to its urban setting of a building ensemble with a high point. As a prelude to the new neighbourhood development along the Eugen-Martin-Strasse axis, the high point has both a connecting and a representative function. The design of the building focuses on the appropriate response to this special interface situation. A high point that shapes the neighbourhood and the open ground floor with its neighbourhood-oriented uses such as a Share+Repair Point, a doctor's practice and a community room invite residents, passers-by and neighbours to come together in this place. Projections and recesses at the corner of Eugen-Martin-Strasse and Freiladestrasse emphasise the slender high point and create a clear address on the ground floor. Coming from the Lokhalle, the all-wood residential tower with its green balconies and façades defines the image of the new quarter. Even from the outside, the special character and the basic ecological attitude are recognisable. An ensemble without backs. The inner courtyard offers a wide range of different functions and materials. Freely accessible bicycle parking areas as part of the mobility concept, as well as numerous differently designed play facilities, green areas and tenants' gardens in the inner courtyard and on roofs offer users a wide range of facilities and versatile social interaction areas. Thus, the newly emerging neighbourhood at the goods station will become an integral building block at the location that promotes social exchange and communication and visibly displays ecological and sustainable aspects to the outside world.
