Wild Assembly

14 April 2026

During the 2025/26 winter semester, the Chair of Climate-Adapted Building and Design at the IBBTE, University of Stuttgart, under the leadership of Prof. Annika Seifert, focused intensively on the reuse of building components in the context of Stuttgart’s old and new main railway station. In the design studio “Next Stop: Wild Assembly”, 22 architecture students documented the remaining roof structures of the track halls at the terminus station and compiled a detailed catalogue of building components from them. Working in pairs, they used this as a basis to develop designs for an urban “greenhouse”, based on reused beams, columns, rails and other steel structural elements.

For the exhibition’s closing event at the BDA Wechselraum on April 17th, 2026 at 6.30 pm, Martin Haas will give a keynote talk on our award-winning entry for the special module Rosenstein A3.
