Our lifestyles are becoming more urbanized and our city centers are densely populated. This results in our cities having less space for green infrastructure such as parks and green areas. This urbanization has a major impact on climate change. Green facades can represent an opportunity to reduce the heating and cooling demands of buildings and thus conserve resources. Sustainable building design is present in Germany, however we should be more ambitious and strong willed to make a significant contribution to the reduction of CO₂emissions with our buildings.
